(Dayton, OH) – Brett Hiltbrand, an award-winning sports broadcaster, has joined the Southern Ohio PGA team as the Content and Marketing Manager. Hiltbrand, a native of Salem, OH, Brett has spent time during his career both in front of and behind the camera.
“We couldn’t be more excited to add Brett to our team,” noted Southern Ohio PGA Executive Director Patrick Salva. “His background in the game coupled with his experience in sports journalism make him a perfect candidate to join our team at an important time for the SOPGA. We need to be telling our story more than ever and Brett is the right person to elevate our organization.”
A graduate of Otterbein University where he majored in Broadcasting and Journalism, Brett started his career behind the camera as a producer with WCMH NBC4 in Columbus. He transitioned in front of the camera as a Sports Anchor in West Virginia and Johnstown, PA. He moved closer to his Ohio roots in 2017, working for Spectrum News 1. In addition to hosting the OHSAA football and basketball state championship coverage for Spectrum, he also was a member of the broadcast team for the Columbus Crew on FOX Sports Ohio and Bally Sports Ohio. Brett won an Ohio Valley Regional Emmy® for “Best Live Sporting Event” in 2022 for exceptional coverage of Major League Soccer and the Columbus Crew.
“It’s not hyperbolic to say that this opportunity is a storyteller’s dream,” said Hiltbrand. “I’m here to tell Ohio golf stories because our history in the game is remarkable and the people are extraordinary. Amplifying our stories is an endeavor I take seriously because there’s so much pride in how Ohio uses golf to impact lives.”
In this role, Brett will focus on telling the story of our Southern Ohio PGA Professionals and the impact the game of golf makes in the local community. He’ll build on the recent success the Section has had through programs like the Play Yellow Birdie Bash and will tackle new stories and ways for getting our story to a broader audience.
