LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH – Melissa Yeazell, PGA claimed the 2022 Southern Ohio PGA Women’s Professional Championship title on Monday at Four Bridges Country Club.

“I’m still here!” said Yeazell after earning her fourth SOPGA Women’s Professional Championship. “It’s been a long time. A lot of sweat, a lot of tears but it feels really good.”

The PGA Teaching Professional at Tri County Golf Ranch in Cincinnati, OH opened the 24th Southern Ohio PGA Women’s Professional Championship steady with a string of pars. She continued to play her game and closed the first round at four-over-par 76. Beginning the final round, Yeazell carded two birdies in her first six holes. Adding a couple bogeys to her card in the final holes didn’t bother her though. Yeazell’s mental toughness kept her in the game and helped her stay consistent in posting another four-over-par 76 to finish the tournament eight-over-par at 152.

“I knew where I stood after the first round, which I don’t normally like to know but I just tried to stick to my game plan and not pay attention to what was going on around me,” noted Yeazell. “I had all the feels today! I hit a bunch of fairways and a decent amount of greens. I did have a few screw-ups out there but I didn’t let them get me down. Emotional and mental strength were the keys to my game today.”

Yeazell’s fourth SOPGA Women’s Professional Championship victory comes 11 years after her most recent championship win in 2011. In that time, she has raised children, created a business, taught numerous hours of golf instruction, and played many rounds of golf.

“My last Championship was in 2011? My kids are a lot older and I now own a business,” reflected Yeazell on what has changed in her life since her last Championship victory.  “Life looks different, but golf is still here.”
