Springboro, Ohio – There was no denying Gabby Woods another championship in her home state. After taking a seven shot lead into Saturday’s final round of the 2025 Ohio Women’s Open, Woods went out and fired the second best round of the day at Heatherwoode Golf Club to take the title.

Gabby Woods wins the 2025 Ohio Women’s Open by a commanding six shots.

Her trophy case of Ohio championships is officially crowded now. Woods went back-to-back in the 2023 and 2024 Women’s Ohio State Amateur championship before claiming another Buckeye state crown in Springboro. Now, she has her sights firmly set on advancing through the ranks of professional women’s golf.

“My game was very solid Friday. I even left a few out there,” said Woods following her win. “I wanted to increase my lead today. I knew putts would fall and if I kept playing my game, I knew I would be good.”

Good is an understatement. Woods dominated the 2025 Ohio Women’s Open at a rate the event hasn’t seen in quite some time. She was the only competitor under par in both rounds and went 24 holes before she made her first bogey. She’s very clearly coming into proper professional form and her confidence grows by the round. Bigger events and victories are almost certainly in her future.

“My peak isn’t there yet and that’s a great thing to feel. I’m in a good spot,” said Woods while speaking with local media following her win. “I missed [qualifying for] the US Women’s Open by a couple shots and this shows me that my hard work is starting to pay off.”

Molly Skapik of Miamisburg made a run to keep things interesting. The former Louisville Cardinal golfer made seven birdies in the final round, including an outrageous if not altogether unlucky tee shot on the par 3 17th. Skapik’s tee shot flew directly into the cup on the fly and inexplicably popped out to about two feet. The ball blew out the edge of the hole location and took several minutes to fix. That ace would have gotten her to five under on the day and a few shots back of Woods. Instead, Skapik had to settle for a tap-in birdie and a second-place finish at even par for the tournament. Lauren Miller and Pan Paksanont finished third and fourth.

Ohio golf legend Cheryl Fox won the Legends Division of the OWO by 11 shots, cruising to another victory with a -1 70 in the final round. Morehead State golfer and Bagdad, Kentucky native Isabella Wiley captured low amateur honors, finishing the tournament with a solid even par 71, good enough for solo fifth. Paige Weiss of Orient, Ohio, took home the low junior honors. 2024 OWO champion Madison Reemsnyder bounced back after a tough opening round and finished tied for 6th, thanks to her -1 round of 70.

The Southern Ohio PGA Women’s Section Championship was a tight affair heading into Saturday’s final round. Melissa Yeazell, PGA, and Hannah McCrabb, PGA, came into the final round tied for the lead. McCrabb’s par-par finish gave her the one shot victory and her first Section title.
