DAYTON, Ohio (June 14, 2021) – Congratulations to Doug Wade, PGA who claimed the SOPGA Classic victory through 19 holes at Dayton Country Club!
PGA Professionals, Associates & amateurs from around Southern Ohio arrived at Dayton Country Club early to hit the course for the SOPGA Classic. Fortunately the weather stayed beautiful, but the field battled high winds and pesky cicadas throughout the event. These obstacles were no bother for the Head Professionals from Sugar Valley Golf Club and Beavercreek Golf Club in the 10:00 tee time. Doug Wade, PGA (Sugar Valley) and Joe Moore, PGA (Beavercreek) tied for the clubhouse lead with scores of one-under-par, 69. As the field continued to finish their round, six players carded scores of even par, 70, but the playoff for first place would be between Wade and Moore. The two players headed back to the first hole for their playoff where Wade claimed the victory.
Chris Black, PGA from Valley View Golf Club and Bob Sowards, PGA from Kinsale Golf & Fitness Center tied for the Senior Division lead at even par, 70. Ashley Thomas, PGA from GOLFTEC – Blue Ash claimed the Ladies Division lead at five-over-par, 75. Luke Schlicher from Springfield Country Club led the Associate Tour with a one-over-par 71. Caleb Westfall was the Low Amateur with a one-over-par, 71, and tied for ninth place in the Main Division.
