NEW ALBANY, Ohio (September 7, 2021) – Congratulations to Bob Sowards, PGA who carded a three-under-par 69 during the regulation round at New Albany Country Club and birdied the first hole of a three-way playoff to claim the New Albany Classic victory!
Coming off a long and busy holiday weekend, Southern Ohio PGA Professionals were ready to compete Tuesday at New Albany Country Club. The bar was set early in the day by Joe Puch who made the turn at two-under-par. The Associate Assistant Professional from Zanesville Country Club continued his round one-under-par on the final nine to card a total score of three-under-par 69 and place himself at the top of the leaderboard. Not far behind, Chase Wilson, PGA came out strong making the turn at three-under-par. An even-par back nine score led the Columbus Country Club Director of Instruction to tie Puch at the top of the leaderboard. In the final pairing of the day, Bob Sowards, PGA made the turn with two birdies on his scorecard. One more birdie on the final nine landed Kinsale Golf & Fitness Center’s Director of Instruction a spot in the playoff with Puch and Wilson. The three players returned to New Albany Country Club’s 18th hole for the playoff where Sowards made a birdie from the fringe to claim the New Albany Classic victory.
Richard Denny, PGA and Tim Krapfel, PGA also performed well at the New Albany Classic carding rounds of two-under-par 70 to finish tied in fourth place. Associate Assistant Professional Darrin Grove in solo sixth place after carding a round of one-under-par 71. Tied in seventh place with rounds of even-par were Kyle Sanders, PGA, Associate Assistant Professional Chris Rossi, and Sam Arnold, PGA. Andy Montgomery, PGA rounded out the Main Division’s Top 10 with a score of one-over-par 73.
With their rounds of three-under-par 69, Bob Sowards, PGA finished at the top of the Senior Division’s leaderboard and Joe Puch secured the Associates Tour victory.
