Powell, OH — The team of Bob Sowards, PGA Director of Instruction at Kinsale Golf & Fitness, and Dan Gage, PGA Director of Golf at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club rode a strong eight birdie performance to a 7-under-par 65 and a one stroke victory in Monday’s Fall Pro-Pro Championship at Brookside Golf & Country Club. The duo’s eight birdies led the field, ahead of six total birdies by the team of Mike Thomas, PGA and Sam Arnold, PGA, who finished second in the event with a score of 66.

Three teams tied at 67 to round out the top five: Larry King, PGA & Melissa Yeazell, PGA, Krissy Austin, PGA & Ryan Jacocks, PGA, and Tim Krapfel, PGA & Lloyd Faulkner, PGA.

With the event being a shotgun start, most teams finished around the same time leaving little time to wait to see who would post the low score. However, Sowards and Gage were the last group in the top five to turn in their scorecard, leaving some suspense leading up to the finish.

Players did have to contend with a major popup rain storm near the end of the round. With most groups down to their last one or two holes to play, the skies opened up and let loose a torrential downpour that left standing water across many areas of the course. That led to a momentary delay before most groups decided they would rather play through the elements and finish up their rounds.

The Section staff would like to extend a big thank you to Brad Zeitner, PGA and his entire staff at Brookside for hosting the event once again. Their staff is always a pleasure to work with and they provide an exceptional atmosphere for the tournament.

We would also like to thank Christa Petitt and Adidas for supporting the event. Christa was on-site to visit with the players and provided a very nice outerwear piece to all competitors. Thank you Christa for all you do to support the Section and its players!
