The Southern Ohio PGA is sad to report the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Herrmann, PGA. Larry passed away on Sunday, July 12th 2020 after a three and a half year battle with cancer. Larry got into the golf business in 1981 working for his brother Dave at the Wyoming Golf Club. He then went on to be head pro at Kings Island, Heritage (in Hilliard), Kinsale, The Golf Depot, Riviera, Miami Valley, and finally at Golf Galaxy. Larry was elected to Membership in 1984 and has been an active Member ever since. The following is from Larry’s brother, David Herrmann, PGA:
“Larry loved the golf business and his personality & temperament was perfect for this business. He was loved and respected at all of his jobs. He especially loved to teach and a good challenge to make everyone better at their game. For over 3 years he traveled over an hour each way to work at Miami Valley in Dayton while living in the Columbus area. This was while taking chemo treatments and seldom missed a day of work. That’s how dedicated he was! Larry is survived by his wife Debi & daughter Taylor; also son Jon & daughter Beth and a granddaughter in Texas; his mother Mary Jean, 4 brothers & 3 sisters, and many nieces & nephews. He will be missed. Arrangements have yet to be made. (Note: Thanks to all those PGA members who made contributions to Larry’s Go-Fund-Me account. It allowed him to live the last years of his life without the financial worries of a lot of medical expenses).”
Larry’s Celebration of Life is set for Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 2:00-6:00 PM at Muirfield Village.
