Gene Samborsky, a 2012 Southern Ohio PGA Hall of Fame inductee and longtime Head Professional at Western Hills Country Club in Cincinnati, OH passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Visitation will be held at Western Hills Church of Christ 5064 Sidney Rd. (45238) on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Celebration of Life will be held at the church on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 9:30 AM. Donations may be sent to White Oak Christian Church or Veteran Golfers Association.

 

Gene was elected to PGA Membership in 1972 and spent the next 35 years serving the membership of Western Hills Country Club as Head Professional before retiring at the end of 2005. 

He has been heavily involved in serving the SOPGA while being a PGA member. He served the Cincinnati Chapter as Tournament Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary, Vice-President and President. In 1979, Samborsky was named the Southern Ohio PGA Golf Professional of the Year.

Samborsky had tremendous success playing the game as well. He qualified for and competed in five PGA Professional National Championships, claimed the Southern Ohio PGA Professional Championship in 1976, and was named the Southern Ohio PGA Player of the Year in 1982 and 1983.
