PGA REACH Southern Ohio is thrilled to announce the expansion of PGA HOPE Southern Ohio to the Dayton area beginning next year! The new PGA HOPE Centerville Chapter will be established in Spring 2023 at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Centerville, Ohio.
“We are thrilled to expand the PGA HOPE Southern Ohio program in support of the Dayton-area military community,” noted Southern Ohio PGA President Pat Bernot, PGA Director of Instruction at GOLFTEC – Easton. “Our Southern Ohio PGA Professionals are able to thrive in the game we love thanks to the service men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms. We’re proud to show our gratitude the best way we know how – through an introduction to the game of golf. ”
PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is an adaptive golf program designed to improve our military community’s overall quality of life through enhancing their mental, social, physical and emotional well-being. Through a four- to eight-week clinic, Veterans and Active Duty Military are introduced to the game of golf by Southern Ohio PGA (SOPGA) Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency. PGA HOPE is the flagship military program funded by PGA REACH Southern Ohio (SOPGA REACH) and completely free of charge for participants.
“Introducing PGA HOPE to the Dayton military community has been a longtime in the making,” said Brian Fennen, PGA Golf Professional at The Golf Club of Yankee Trace and PGA HOPE Centerville Chapter Lead Professional. “SOPGA HOPE has impacted numerous lives across our Section and we’re proud to establish the Centerville Chapter next Spring at Yankee Trace!”
The PGA HOPE Centerville Chapter will be the fifth PGA HOPE Southern Ohio Chapter established by PGA REACH Southern Ohio. Since 2016, more than 45 adaptive golf trained SOPGA Professionals have provided free golf instruction to over 350 PGA HOPE participants at four Chapters across Central and Southern Ohio – the Cincinnati Chapter at Meadow Links & Golf Academy, the Cincinnati East Chapter at Little Miami Golf Center, the Columbus Chapter at the Golf Club of Dublin and the Zanesville Chapter at EagleSticks Golf Club.
Registration for the PGA HOPE Centerville Chapter’s Spring 2023 clinic session at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace will open in January 2023 with the Chapter’s first clinic session running through April and May. Participation in the clinic will be filled on a first-come-first served basis. Please visit thesouthernohiopga.com/sopgareach for more information.
