Maineville, OH — Three past champions head into the final round of the Southern Ohio PGA Professional Championship tied on Tuesday at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, OH.
Bob Sowards, PGA Director of Instruction at Kinsale Golf and Fitness, a ten-time champion of the event (1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017), was the first to post two-under-par 142. Sowards opened with a double-bogey on the par-4 first hole but rebounded by making eight birdies over the next 36-holes.
Sam Arnold, PGA Head Professional at Vineyard Golf Course, previously won the championship in 2007. He posted seven birdies during the two rounds contested on Monday.
Dave Bahr, PGA Head Professional at Maketewah Country Club rounds out the trio at two-under-par heading into the final round. Bahr, who has claimed three titles in the championship (2004, 2011, 2016 ), made six birdies on Monday to just four bogeys.
Three players sit tied for fourth place heading into the final round. Caleb Witting, PGA Assistant Professional at Zanesville Country Club, who won the 2020 National Car Rental Southern Ohio PGA Assistant Professional Championship earlier this season, was the first to post one-under-par 143. Joining Wittig is Anthony Andrews, PGA Head Professional at Blue Ash Golf Course, who held the outright lead following the first round after posting a three-under-par 69. Joe Moore, PGA Head Professional at Beavercreek Golf Club, will round out the threesome heading into the final round after posting a steady round
The field was cut to the low 30 players and ties following the completion of 36-holes on Monday. Players posting scores of ten-over-par 154 or better made the cut. The final round will begin on Tuesday at 10:00am with the leaders set to begin at 11:30am.
