SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (June 21, 2021) – Congratulations to Jeff Olson, PGA who claimed the Springfield Classic victory after a three-hole playoff at Springfield Country Club!

Four-under-par was the score of the day at the Springfield Classic as two Columbus professionals tied at the top of the leaderboard. Jeff Olson, PGA held the clubhouse lead after carding a 68 for the round. An hour later, Danny Sorgini, PGA finished his round with the same score. Both players carded five birdies and one bogey throughout the 18-hole tournament. Olson and Sorgini battled in a playoff for the title. They both made pars on the first playoff hole, the par-4 10th hole, and on the second playoff hole, the par-4 18th. The victory was claimed when Olson made a great putt for par back on the 10th hole and Sorgini made a bogey. Olson is no stranger to playoffs at Springfield Country Club. He competed on the same three playoff holes for the 2020 Springfield Classic against Bob Sowards, PGA after they both carded scores of 68, four-under-par. Some could say this victory has been a year in the making for the Golf Club of Dublin General Manager.

The Springfield Classic’s Senior Division also contributed some excitement to the day. Chris Black, PGA from Valley View Golf Club continued the momentum he built at last week’s SOPGA Classic and held the clubhouse lead for most of the day with a score of two-under-par, 70. Almost two hours later, Scott Spence, PGA from The Lakes Golf & Country Club tied the clubhouse lead while continuing to use the momentum he created earlier this month at the Ohio Senior Open. Pat Delany, PGA from Reid Park Memorial carded a 69, three-under-par to earn the Senior Division’s purse and points.

Krissy Austin, PGA from the Golf Club of Dublin edged out Tri County Golf Ranch’s Melissa Yeazell, PGA to win the Ladies Division by one stroke.

In the Associates Tour, Springfield Country Club’s own Luke Schlicher held the clubhouse lead for most of the day after carding a 72, even par. About three hours later, Hyde Park Country Club’s Taylor Suggs carded a two-under-par 70 to take the lead and Heritage Club’s Chris Rossi carded a one-under-par 71 to knock Schlicher into third place.
