Springboro, OH – The Southern Ohio PGA welcomed 137 junior golfers to Pipestone Golf Club for the qualification stage of the 2025 Junior PGA Championship.
Gabe Scherer from Dublin and Noah Andry from Powell both qualified in the boys division. Two-time Junior PGA Champion Meadow Tian qualified alongside Isabella Anderson, making it two-straight years the duo has advanced through qualifying.
These players are now set to compete July 29 – August 1 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The qualifying stage brought the heat in many more ways than one. With record high temperatures coming in on both days of the tournament, the players had a large obstacle to overcome both mentally and physically. The first round of the tournament started off tricky, day one played significantly more difficult than day two. A handful of tricky hole locations, paired with the extreme heat, kept the leaderboard packed after the opening round. Andry lead at the end of the day at 4-under par. Scherer followed close behind at 2-under.
The best juniors in Ohio showed off their considerable ability on day two. Scherer went out in 3-under, his eagle on the par-5 second leading to three more birdies on the front nine. Two bogeys kept him from breaking 30. Andry’s quickly gaining a reputation for steady play bolstered by some impressive ball-striking and that continued Tuesday. Noah’s one-under front nine set the table for a showdown between him and his neighbor to the southwest – both players were tied at five-under.

Andry made a costly bogey on the 13th hole that opened the door for Scherer, who took a two-shot lead he kept the rest of the afternoon.
“The putter was on fire. I made a lot of long putts—eagle putt on two, and then like a 30-footer on three,” said Gabe following the win. “It set the tone for the rest of the day. I was able to make a couple more long par putts to keep the round going.”
He was also prepared for the heat, having spent some of his summer vacation in steamy Florida.
“I went on vacation to Florida four days ago. I was there for three days,” said Scherer. “I decided to wake up at 6:30 a.m. every day and just go out to the range and grind, and really get ready for this tournament.”
Meadow Tian took a four-shot lead into her final round, and was cruising along until Isabella Anderson made a push mid-way through. After turning four shots behind, Anderson made back-to-back birdies on #10 and #11, pulling within two shots of the lead. Standing on 16 tee, Tian decided to rely on her strengths: her mindset and short game.

“Some of my shots around the green were pretty good over the last few days,” said Tian. “Chipping and putting got me through.”
Tian birdied 16, forcing a two shot swing when paired with Anderson’s unfortunate bogey. It was a wrap after that.
“I have a women’s amateur in Michigan,” said Tian. “I’m just going to see where it takes me.”
