Upper Arlington, OH — Jeff Olson, PGA General Manager at The Golf Club of Dublin holds a three stroke lead after the opening round of the SOPGA Tour Championship at Scioto Country Club. Olson fought through cold and wet conditions to fire a 2-under-par 69 in his opening round Tuesday. Olson finds himself as the only player in red numbers after a difficult opening round. He leads Caleb Wittig, PGA Assistant Golf Professional at Zanesville Country Club by three strokes.

Olson got off to a steady start, turning at 1-over-par 37 after his opening nine holes. He bogeyed number 10, but immediately righted the ship with birdies on holes 11 and 12. He continued that strong play, roaring to a hot finish with two more birdies to finish with a 3-under-par 32 on the back nine.

Wittig played a strong round himself, recovering nicely after two bogeys in his first four holes. He proceeded to birdie holes eight and nine to turn at even par. He birdied number 12 to get to one under par, but stumbled with back-to-back bogeys on 17 and 18 to finish his round at 1-over-par 72.

A four man contingent, including two-time defending champion Bob Sowards, PGA, sit just one stroke behind Wittig at 2-over-par overall. Joining Sowards at 73 are Chad Ammer, PGA, Chris Black, PGA and Chase Wilson, PGA.

The final round of the Tour Championship will start at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Olson, Wittig and Ammer will tee off at 10:30 AM.
