MASON, Ohio (July 19, 2021) – Congratulations to Darrin Grove who claimed the 2021 Legacy Championship at Heritage Club!

Grove, a PGA Associate and Assistant Professional at The Golf Club, arrived at Heritage Club for an early tee time in the second group on the course for the day. He came ready to compete and started strong with a 35, one-under-par on the front nine then followed it with a 34, two-under-par on the back nine. His round of 69 three-under-par earned Grove the clubhouse lead early in the day.

As Grove had to return to The Golf Club for work after his round, the 60 player Legacy Championship field attempted to knock him out of the lead. Three birdies on the front nine allowed Sam Arnold, PGA, to make the turn at two-under-par and an even back nine helped him card a 70, two-under-par for the round. Paul Macke, Jr., PGA consistently carded one-under-par nines which helped him card a total score of 70, two-under-par. An even front nine and two birdies on the back nine allowed Chase Wilson, PGA to card a 70, two-under-par for the round. Andy Montgomery, PGA claimed the solo fifth place at 71, one-under-par and Jeff Olson, PGA’s  even-par score of 72 earned him solo sixth place. Seven players tied in seventh place after carding scores of 73, one-over-par.

Two-under-par 70 earned Tim Krapfel, PGA the Senior Division victory by three strokes. Ashley Thomas PGA claimed the Ladies Division after carding a score of four-over-par 76. Darrin Grove’s 69, three-under-par also claimed the Associates Tour victory by four strokes.
