CINCINNATI, Ohio (May 3, 2021) – The Southwest Chapter Pro-Pro at Sharon Woods ended with two teams, including three PGA Professionals from Great Parks facilities, at the top of the leaderboard. Congratulations to the teams of Dennis Wells, PGA & Tom Bach, PGA and Mike Thomas, PGA & Ashley Thomas, PGA on their scores of 64, six-under-par!
Players gathered at Sharon Woods Golf Course for a 9:00 AM shotgun start for the Southwest Chapter Pro-Pro. Both the Wells & Bach and Thomas & Thomas teams started the round strong with birdies on their first holes. Neither team carded a bogey on their 18-hole round. Thomas & Thomas ended the day with six total birdies. Wells & Bach carded only four birdies throughout the round but made it to six-under-par with an eagle on the par-4 twelfth hole. The PGA Professionals from the Great Parks of Hamilton Country golf courses represented well at the Southwest Chapter Pro-Pro at Sharon Woods Golf Course, a Great Parks facility. The teams tied at the top of the leaderboard included three Great Parks facilities staff members – Wells, the General Manager at Little Miami Golf Center; Bach, the General Manager at Sharon Woods Golf Course; and Mike Thomas, the Head Professional at The Vineyard Golf Course. Also in the event field was Sam Arnold from The Vineyard, Ben Chandler from Little Miami Golf Center, and Paul Rooney from Sharon Woods.
This event also marks the beginning of the season-long Southwest Team Challenge supported by Montgomery Inn and Precision Pro Golf. The Team Challenge builds camaraderie and competitiveness among the players while raising funds to benefit local initiatives. This year, the funds raised will benefit our Southern Ohio PGA HOPE programs & the Folds of Honor Foundation. The team of Sean Arthur, PGA, Ken Kaiser, PGA, Mike Thomas, PGA & Doug Wade, PGA are currently at the top of the leaderboard with two teams tied for second place after the first event.
