Port St. Lucie, FL — Two of our Section members represented the Section well over the weekend at the 44th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club. Austin Eccleton, Assistant Professional at Heritage Club and Caleb Wittig, PGA Assistant Professional at Zanesville Country Club competed and performed well at the national championship, both finishing in the top 20 overall.
Austin finished in a tie for eighth place after battling back from a slow start. He shot rounds of 74-72-70-70—286 to finish at 2-under-par overall. His final-round 70 propelled him 11 places up the leaderboard from 19th place at the beginning of his round to finish in eighth.
Caleb put himself in a good position with an opening-round 1-under-par 71, but ultimately finished in a tie for 18th place. He finished at even par after rounds of 71-72-75-70—288. His strong final round also pushed him up the leaderboard and into the top 20. He went into the final round in 28th place, but played himself all the way up to 18th.
Overall, both of them played very well over the weekend and should be proud of their results. Congratulations on the great showings!
