POWELL, OH (May 8, 2023) – Congratulations to Bob Stephens, PGA & Jon McDonald on claiming the 2023 E-Z-GO Spring Pro Pro Championship! The team secured their first team title for Sycamore Creek Country Club by carding two rounds of eight-under-par 64 to finish 16-under-par at the top of the event’s leaderboard.

Bob Stephens, PGA Head Professional at Sycamore Creek Country Club in Springboro, OH is no stranger to the Southern Ohio PGA Tournament Schedule and the annual  E-Z-GO Spring Pro Pro Championship. This year he teamed up with Jon McDonald, the newest PGA Associate Assistant Professional at Sycamore Creek Country Club. McDonald joined the PGA Associate Program during the winter but as the weather heats up, he’s heading into the tournament season with one win already secured.

To get the day started, Southern Ohio’s E-Z-GO Distributor Lake Erie Golf Cars representatives Danny Hayes and Frank Cisterino welcomed the XXX competitors to Wedgewood Golf & Country Club where they would be making their way around the course in the newest E-Z-GO fleet of carts.

Play began for the opening round in an 18-hole Four Ball format where players completed each hole individually and chose the best score for their team. Although Stephens and McDonald opened the event with a bogey, the pair recovered with two consecutive birdies. Eight more birdies in the morning helped them post an opening round score of eight-under-par 64. Their momentum continued into the final round as teams switched to the 18-hole Modified Alternate Shot format. Stephens and McDonald birdied the first hole of the final round and kept going low as they carded seven more birdies to post a second consecutive score of eight-under-par 64.
