BELLBROOK, Ohio (August 9, 2021) – Congratulations to Pat Delaney, PGA & his amateur teammate Caleb Westfall on their victory at the Southwest Chapter Sugar Shootout Pro-1 Am!
The Southwest Chapter’s final Pro-Am of the season invited Section professionals and their best amateurs to Sugar Valley Golf Club for the Sugar Shootout. 24 teams arrived at the course Monday to begin the round at 10:00 AM in a shotgun start. The top six teams after the 18-hole competition qualified for the shootout final round.
Reid Park Golf Course’s team of Head Professional Pat Delaney, PGA and Amateur Caleb Westfall began their round on Sugar Valley’s tenth hole in the shotgun start. They carded a score of 31 with five birdies on their first nine holes. The final nine proved to be a bit more difficult, but the team still found two birdies to secure their spot at the top of the leaderboard after carding a score of seven-under-par, 64. The Kinsale Golf & Fitness team of Andy Montgomery, PGA and Phil Bojc (a) and the Tri County Golf Ranch team of Larry King, PGA and Scott Smith (a) both carded rounds of six-under-par, 65 to finish tied in second place. Carding a five-under-par 66 to take solo fourth place was the Vineyard team of Mike Thomas, PGA and Bryce Haney (a). Three teams tied for fifth place at four-under-par 67 to also qualify for the shootout.
In addition to the team competition, each player also competed individually in three specific divisions. Vineyard’s Sam Arnold, PGA finished at the top of the Main Professional Division with a score of four-under-par 67. Valley View Golf Club’s Chris Black, PGA carded a one-under-par 70 to finish at the top of the Senior Professional Division leaderboard. Amateur Caleb Westfall, from the Reid Park team with Pat Delaney, PGA, carded a six-under par 65 to finish as the Low Amateur and help his team to the team victory.
