Merchandiser of the Year - Private
There are golf shops, and then there is the golf shop at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
For Peter Dornisch, PGA, the challenge is not simply knowing what golfers want. It is knowing which golfer is standing in front of him.

For much of the year, Dornisch and his team serve the members of one of the country’s most exclusive clubs. Then come the visitors, many of whom have traveled from outside Central Ohio for the chance to play Muirfield Village. And then there is Memorial week, when thousands of tournament patrons descend on Dublin and the golf shop takes on an entirely different identity.
Three audiences. Three very different reasons to buy.
It’s a golf shop operation that requires both attention and intention. The shop changes displays monthly throughout the season, with additional rotations built around the holiday season, constantly reshaping itself to meet the moment.
The philosophy behind it is refreshingly simple: know what sells, keep it moving and make sure the customer finds something worth taking home.
That discipline matters at Muirfield Village, where the merchandise operation carries a responsibility that extends well beyond the property.
For all of its exclusivity, Muirfield Village is remarkably visible in Central Ohio. The club’s identity — and especially the Memorial Tournament’s — can be found everywhere. Hats, shirts, hoodies and bags carrying that familiar logo have become part of the visual fabric of the community.
That kind of ubiquity doesn’t happen by accident.
It is the result of a merchandising operation that understands the power of the Muirfield Village brand while never losing sight of the golfer standing in front of the counter. For Dornisch, the goal isn’t simply to fill a shop.
It is to give every customer, whether they’re a member, a tournament patron or a guest, a reason to take a little piece of Muirfield Village with them.
