Golf Professional of the Year
At Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club in Powell, Ohio, the first thing people notice isn’t the immaculate fairways or the hum of carts on a Saturday morning. You notice the feeling. The kind of environment that hums with energy and laughter, that kind of carefree atmosphere which only comes from a shared sense of belonging. At the center of it all is Andy Montgomery, PGA, the club’s Director of Golf and the 2025 Southern Ohio PGA Golf Professional of the Year.

“The Director” has built something rare at Kinsale, a culture where excellence and warmth coexist. He’s known as the kind of leader who greets every staff member by name, listens before he speaks and makes everyone around him feel valued. It’s not an accident that his team thrives; it’s the product of a leadership style rooted in humility and authenticity.
Andy answers the call. When the Southern Ohio PGA needed a venue for Birdie Bash, Kinsale stepped up. Have a question? He’s got an answer. If someone’s best ability is availability, Andy’s around to be a resource for anyone and anything.
As Tournament Chairman for the Southern Ohio PGA for the past eight years, Andy has been just as influential beyond Kinsale’s grounds. Under his direction, the Section’s tournament program has seen revitalization and growth. He’s introduced fresh formats and helped reimagine events like the Tour Championship and Pro-Am Series, bringing new life and excitement to professional competition in the Section.
The work isn’t just about competition, it’s also about connection. Those playing opportunities have a purse at the end of the day but the camaraderie fostered on Mondays is priceless.
His impact extends beyond the fairways too, through charity work like the Birdie Bash, which supports the three Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Ohio, Nationwide Children’s, Dayton Children’s and Cincinnati Children’s Hospitals. His fundraising efforts contributed to Birdie Bash surpassing the $1 million mark in total charitable giving in 2025.
What stands out most, though, isn’t the résumé, it’s the way people talk about him. His peers see him as a model for what it means to be a PGA Professional in every sense of the word: passionate about the game, selfless in service and unwavering in character.
At its best, golf is about people. Andy Montgomery understands that better than most. Leadership turns into legacy, if you’re doing it right, and there’s no doubt that Andy’s creating one each and every day.
And that’s why this year, as the Southern Ohio PGA’s 2025 Golf Professional of the Year, Andy’s honor feels less like an award and more like a reflection of who he’s always been, a leader whose greatest success is measured in the people and places made better by his presence.
